Our customers have been asking for a way to programmatically manage their accounts, primarily when they’re utilizing Fingerprint on multiple products (e.g., different websites, different teams, different clients, etc.).

So today, we’re introducing the Management API!

Gone are the days of tedious and time-consuming manual management of API keys and filtering rules when setting up and maintaining your Fingerprint account. Read on for more details. 

How does the Fingerprint Management API work? 

The Management API allows you to programmatically manage your Fingerprint account and its configuration from your own system.

You can use the Management API for all your applications, regardless of region, to automate the configuration of your Fingerprint setup and link the creation of its resources to your internal business logic. Below are some examples on how you can use the Management API. 

Automatic rotation of API keys

If you want to deprecate API keys after a specific time period for security purposes, you can now plug into the Management API to automate this process. New keys are issued and ready for deployment much faster when compared to manual key management.

Managing multiple products

If you have multiple internal teams that are each managing separate products and their websites, they can now utilize the Management API to enable them to easily manage API keys and filtering rules for each of the products. 

Service providers

In the before-Management-API times, if you're a service provider and you're enabling Fingerprint for your clients, onboarding each client would require you to manually requisition API keys and setup request filtering rules. 

With the Management API, you can now completely automate this process. This ensures faster implementation and increases security since you can create dedicated environments for your clients as soon as they are onboarded and decommission them immediately during offboarding.

How much does the Management API cost? 

The Management API is fully available to all Fingerprint customers at no additional cost. In other words, Management API requests are not billed and do not count toward your monthly plan. Check out our Management API Overviews docs for more information on how to get started.
